HEALTH

  • Dogs must appear to be in good physical health.

  • We administer basic medications as required by the dog’s veterinarian.

  • We are unable to provide 24-hour observation for severely ill dogs.

  • Proof of all required vaccines from a veterinarian must be provided before the first day of boarding or training (Distemper/Parvo, Bordatella, and Rabies) and must have been administered at least one week before initial boarding or training session.

  • Proof of flea, tick, and worm management must be provided.

  • Puppies must have had their second round of vaccines before arrival and be at least 12 weeks old.

  • If your dog shows any sign of illness after admission, they will be quarantined from the rest of the pack until owner pick up.

  • Intact females will be segregated from the pack if she is having a heat cycle.

  • If an injury or illness arises, we will contact the owner to discuss medical treatment. If your vet is within 15 miles of our kennel we will take the dog to your vet. If not, we will take them to our vet (Walkertown Veterinary Hospital) or the emergency clinic in Winston-Salem, NC after normal hours.

  • The owner is liable for all veterinary expenses that may occur along with additional travel and time expenses accrued by Middle Brook Kennels.

 

BEHAVIOR

  • All dogs must pass an initial evaluation. The evaluation takes about 30 minutes.

  • We evaluate the dog’s social skills and obedience level.

  • We assess the dog’s mental stability as best as possible. A dog’s mental state can change rapidly when the owner is away and they’re in a new environment.

  • Aggressive behavior towards dogs or humans is not acceptable.

  • We use all training tools available to get the desired results with a minimum impact on the dog. This includes but is not limited to stern harsh vocal tones, treats, and e-collars.

 

What to Bring

  • Proof of current vaccinations from your veterinarian and proof of flea, tick, and worm prevention.

  • Medications along with veterinary instructions.

  • Food – Must be sufficient to cover the duration of the boarding or training stay.

  • Bedding – An appropriately sized dog bed or platform is acceptable. We provide an ergonomic platform in the boarding kennels and bedding in crates for house/crate training.

  • No more than one chew toy for boarding. Toys may not be accepted during training programs.

 

Payment

  • Payment is due at the time of scheduling. Boarding dates or training sessions are not scheduled unless payment is received.

  • A 20% cancellation fee.

  • No refunds if a cancelation is less than 24 hours in advance of appointment or the dog is not delivered.

 

Additional Fees

  • A food charge of $5 a day will be applied if food is not provided.

  • You will be liable for any damage that your dog may cause to our facilities or other dogs.
